Sorry, but just too too much has pushed us'ns over the edge on open blasting!

I'm sorry to say that I just removed our instructions on how to do BHO extractions using an open tube, after us'n three SPR partners unanimously agreed that too many brothers and sisters are ignoring all warnings against indoor open blasting, and the havoc they are wreaking is causing us to all be painted with the same brush as sociopathic idiots. I left the parts not relating to open blasting, including butane safety, which is applicable to both open and closed loop extraction. There are ample sites demonstrating how to open blast, so ours is not needed. Sorry it came to this!  I note it is always the few that ruin things for us'n masses, but don't know how to fix it. /bho-extraction/

You shouldn't post help on anything. I can figure all of it on my own and so should everyone else. I invented BHO on my own without help and so have many others. In fact, no one knew what BHO was nor did they want to pay money for it when I was experimenting on it. Finally, BHO was always a way to turn garbage to gold and I never intended running top shelf since that is a loss at hash prices adjusted for potency.

Hey, I've been designing these things for years but I lack proper funds to get parts. I can make the oven run off of the extractor. And a bunch of other Shit I've seen none of in other machines. I invision one unit that does it all with way less power needed. Ran though a tablet app. No dry ice. No outside components. No freezer. None of that waste. If you wanna collaborate hit me back.

It sucks that people can't follow basic instructions. Don't blame yourself lol. Kind of reminds me of how people were blowing their houses up with illegal alcohol stills during prohibition. Hopefully the laws catch up with the sentiments of the majority concerning this harmless and extremely beneficial plant. Until then I guess we just Ramble On! I would love to come work for you guys btw! I need to put this chem degree to use lol

It was probably a good decision, can't say that I blame you. Yes it was good to have instructions so people knew a good way of doing open blast, but until things settle a little and people are more educated on the safeties, it's probably smart to just omit it. If someone is hurting that bad to do it, they can find the info elsewhere. I wouldn't want to feel partially responsible for explosions just because someone read my posts. People think that because they didn't blow up their apartment once, that it's safe. True, you might be able to get away with it a few times, and maybe even a bunch! But it's not worth the risk of that one spark starting a huge explosion. There shouldn't be this insatiable need to make oil. Yes smoking oil is fun, and becoming cool, but it's not safe for everyone, and it's getting easier to procure these days. Just my 2 cents! We all have to be responsible and safe!

Here's a simple point? Would you take your gas grill inside your home, turn on the fuel and walk away? Of course not, then why the hell would you EVER blast in a enclosed environment? Oh.... You say you have fans sucking it out! Hmmmmmmm....... Motor, electric, spark, boom........ If you use a Fan NEVER suck the fumes, ALWAYS blow them away when blasting OUTDOORS, IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT! But we don't want to open blast any longer, due to the fact of STUPIDITY! A above statement was versed on "Natural Selection" which is all fine and good, until it's your neighbor blowing up the neighborhood! So I guess if you not intelligent enough to fuel up your moms car, without blowing yourself up, you might just want to go to the dispensary!

Good for you. It is often the case that common sense goes out the window. Blasting misadventures give the whole cann/med. movement a black eye and sets back the hard won gain that you've help provide. Thanks for all your efforts to educate the folks who are trying to be responsible. Keep up the great work!

I agree. I like open blasting for the reason that, the product comes out tastier if done right and you pull less plant lipids and fats. However, im the only person I know that does it safely. Everyone thinks its ok to do it inside their house or another form of a closed space but its not. This science is all about "controlling variables" that means eliminating the chance of harmful gas build up.

I feel the same way SPR, I have stopped supporting/ purchasing/ regularly dabbing/ assisting with extractions since 2012 when I started to feel that open blasting was not a good thing. Most large scale producers I talk to say that they have purchased closed loop machines but that they the machines are too slow and they can process a lot more material with open blasting/cans. These people are choosing a way they know is less safe to make more money faster, and it irks me. Multiple big producers have told me they have seen multiple fires... all while open blasting. The percentage of fail rate it too high. too many explosions! In 2012 when I said goodbye to BHO I started only dabbing full melt bubble but then started extracting from bubble, kief, trim and buds using organic ethanol and usually reclaiming it with a still. At this point I can access closed-loop machine made lab tested BHO and I think that is perfectly fine to dab along with my ethanol extractions One cool part about doing stuff at a closed-loop/ industrial science lab scale: Now you can do all types of hash. Nitrogen, Oxygen, Co2 Butane, Propane, you name it: there are many possibilities for solvents once you have the right equipment. Also lets all be clear, closed loop systems can be dangerous. if they blow up that will be a ridiculous fire or pressure explosion Thanks Graywolf and Fam!

I support your decision, especially for the reasons given. Though blasting is a cheap alternative to closed loop systems, it has the potentials for disaster. Judging by news reports, a lot of people aren't researching or implementing any thought in their "craft". In anything this leads to trouble. Kudos GW, this industry is new and needs a lot of attention and right knowledge. You have always been my goto for information, your research and reports are very accurate and easily read (you make it very easily understandable).

But meanwhile more and more people build active systems! And anybody must start up telling users, that the letters "etc" on a list of numbers, not mean Butan in all cases. Descriptions like that: "including R12,R22,R134,R407C,R410A etc." are wrong for our kind of systems.. "ETC" means all time only less numbers never higher numbers And the word "Explosion Proof" must match to R600A !! In last month, i meet !3! people online, worldwide, who build active systems... and all of them was on the way, to order a wrong compressor!! :() I guess the "BUMM" of a hi pressure active system with a wrong compressor, will be amazing! I say, all kinds of butan extraction is only for professional! Thy best way to stop home blasting worldwide, is to offer a blasting service for public. User bring material, and get 90% of oil back. 10 % for blasting-service is fair for all. I only can hope, that the worldwide governments, will accept this in future times, and change some rules, to make it possible.... Meanwhile we count explosions... :( Perhaps anybody like to check out, how many wounded or di last month in war, and how many by extractions? // If YOU read this post, and YOU are working by a Gov., Please go to google_picture_search, and type in: BHO Explosion. ENJOY this pictures.. !! YOU make the rules, that forbid service-extractions, and provide home blasting. AND i don`t talk about US problems only! In Spain i was on a workshop, the teacher blast in a pan, under it a laboratory heater.. I found no explosion proof sticker on it, and he answered, "THIS is for LABORATORY use, THIS is OK!..." I asked google about this heater, and after i read the answer, i leave this workshop unaffiliated....

We really don't feel responsible for their genetic bad luck or gambles with death after being educated, but are greatly concerned about the poor brothers and sisters living next door, innocent children, fat little puppies, and kitty cats, whom get dragged in to the sometimes catastrophic results. I was blow away to see a a report of someone doing it inside a vehicle, with a two year year old child in the back seat. It didn't say whose kid, so don't know if they also had flawed genetics as well and infant mortality would be a merciful end. What we do know is that it is out of control, regardless of whether it is ignorance, flawed genetics, or sociopathy and we founded Skunk Pharm Research, LLC to help the community, so don't wish to support those things pernicious to it. While I'm sorry to see the information go, I'm in 100% agreement with your decisions. The things discussed here are dangerous and even when done correctly, following precautions ect... bad things can and will happen. No rhyme, no reason. So when someone is a Damn Idiot.... they deserve what they get! The problem is the people that are getting hurt, maimed, poisoned, blown all to hell. Their homes children animals and loved ones burnt up in a fire or in my opinion the worst thing that could happen, surviving the blast and ensuing inferno. Living in the never ending pain from the burns from the chemicals. Having to relive the terror and the fear. and last but DEFINITELY not least remembering the screams of friends and family as they die in agony. It seems the wrong folks are mostly the ones that pay the dues of the Idiots at large. I wish this was not so but ....

Valid point, but we left the butane safety part intact. It was the open blasting part we took out, and I see numerous examples on line on how to shoot butane through an open column, so don't see us as adding much. I also note that open blasters are most likely not pre-distilling their butane, so leaving MO behind in the concentrates. I just think it has been demonstrated that there are enough certifiable idiots/sociopaths among us to endanger society with open blasting, and it is time for us to move on and either extract BHO in a closed loop system, or buy it from professionals who do. There is also QWET and other delightful concentrate extraction methods, if you can't afford $500 to build our own Lil Terp passive closed loop system, which is big enough for personal use. Commercial extractors who need greater capacity shouldn't be in the game if they can't remove the MO by predistilling, and at the price of butane, are at a cost disadvantage to their competitors who recycle their butane. Venting large quantities of butane to the atmosphere, also adds to smog and given the acknowledged ecological damage oil drilling causes, should be conserved to minimize the need for more drilling. Peace, GW
