Flax Seeds contain CBD

A recent study in Poland discovered that Flax produces CCD!  Thank you Granny Stormcrow for the heads up!

Getting the Flax Straight about Cannabidiol (Photos)

A research team based in Poland may have discovered that CBD is a major component of the flax plant. The Cannabis plant also makes CBD (Cannabidiol), a miraculous plant compound that demonstrates the potential to treat a wide range of diseases with virtually no side effects. Interestingly, the researchers discovered the presence of CBD in flax accidently. They were analyzing genetically modified flax plants and comparing them to natural flax plants. The team noted that the production of several compounds was slightly enhanced in the GMO plants and decided to identify them. My mom has moderate-severe alsheimers. she too had the aggressive angry mood which was hard to tolerate at times. also threatening to leave different times of the day. The day I felt like giving up was the day I ordered medical marijuana. bought blue dream 1G, almond butter and kiva chocolate bar. gave mom 15 mg of the chocolate. she was so high and laughing at everything. she was no longer angry, or throwing things around and was just in a good mood. she slept like a baby. nothing got her angry. The 15 mg was a bit too much so I gave her 1/2 instead after dinner. I also gave her the almond butter on toast with jelly in the morning. again she was still acting high and slept the whole day. Next day, just gave her the chocolate after dinner and she was the mom I once knew. Before cannabis, she could never remember where the bathroom was. Now, she goes straight to the bathroom not asking anyone where it is. She's remembering more and more and can do simple tasks that she couldnt do before. i also read that cannabis can help diabetes. my dad has diabetes so i started giving him same dose chocolate after dinner. after few days eating the chocolate, tested his fasting blood sugar this morning. first time it was normal. he can feel the blood circulating in his legs now. his appetite is returning. they are both happy. we are all happy. I will continue giving them chocolate after dinner. Hopefully this continues to improve their health. smoking the blue dream for alzheimers prevention. and to keep cool in stressful situations.

Could you advise what amt of CBD oil to THC would work best to start on a dementia patient. He does not and would not smoke so advise what method works best for THC combo. He has had dementia 6 years and currently on 1 mg Haldol per day with xtra doses prescribed as needed. Needing only occasional doses currently. I want him off the Haldol. Please help me. Thank you.

Linda, I know this is a tardy response but felt compelled to add my experience. Mom's dementia caused anger and fear responses though not brain damage induced. I used a THC dominant formulation for mom. Because she had seizures, I did search out grow and produce a CBD formulation for her. The results were less than desirable. She became a fearful, angry obstinate child. The THC seemed necessary to help her forget she was dying and to mitigate mood issues. Dose is another issue. Every individual is dose different. I suggest starting with a light dose tincture at night, in case there are issues. Find whatever combination Tincture you feel comfortable dosing to start, perhaps a dominate THC with maybe a 20% ratio of CBD. If tolerated, repeat in the am. Consider starting doses from 5 to 10 mg. If you see no effects, four hours later, double the dose. If that proves to be too much, split the difference four hours later. You get the idea of the binary search pattern. I always made a nice cup of tea for mom to take tincture. I found concentrated doses easier to administer (she could not spit them out), so pressed that as soon as she was able. Mom experienced great benefits from large doses (began speaking again) . Most of the research I have read calls for 1-5mg with little to no effect. Mom’s doses rapidly increased to 3000mg per day. The more she took, the better the results. Again, all beings respond differently, be attentive and observant, particularly if the patient does not speak. My best to you, Carla aka ES

I tried cbd for my dad with not much success. I then tried thc drops (you can find these at a local medical marijuana dispensary ) , hopefully there's one nearby. I found this calmed him , gave him a better appetite and helped him sleep. There are different potencies and strains. There's no right way or one way to deal with disease . Research and do your best , best of luck. Remember to find rest time for yourself as well!

Read this blog a few years back when my mother first developed dementia. She is now in hospital due to breaking her hip after we put her in a care home. She doesn't eat and has behavioural issues. She is very emotional and aggressive at times. I've tried some cannabis butter on her a few times. However my sister and I think it may be making her more unstable emotionally. We don't really have the confidence to carry on using it in case it is doing more harm than good. I'm wondering about the authors decision to go down this route and was it influenced in any way by the health care situation in the USA? In the UK we have free health care which includes elderly and nursing care homes. Was it preferable to treat her at home rather than put her in a care home? It looks like my mother will go back to my sisters home as she is difficult to manage and frankly will receive more love in that environment. I would be interested to hear anyone thoughts. Thanks

Dilaudid is never good for an older patient. My Mom had to use this due to morphine gave her bad reactions. She was on heavy doses after a huge intestinal surgery. The nurse told me a couple times "we need to get her off dilaudud, it causes short term memory". That was in late 2006, with diagnoses to have short term memory lose in late 2007. Today she is in the advance stages of dementia. I would love to try hemp oil to see if it would give her some relief. Or possibly juicing the leaves and bud.

Hi, my condolences your mother looks and sounds as just like my situation. So far, my bother in law was looking after my mother-in-law and he did the best he could, but unfortuantely it isn't working out for either of them so, me and her sister (who is my mother-in-laws power of attorney and executrix) decided to put her in a home, due to the fact she started wandering and then we had to go look for her, Anyways, we have her on Cold Cannabis, but will eventually get her on the marijuana oil, which we make ourselves. Can you please offer me some help as far as what type of marijuana you were using? We are using the G-13, 23% THC, 1.2% CBD, have been now for 3 weeks. Now we have made plans for her to go live with my sister-in-law, she lives on a farm with chickens, horses, a great place for her , as she did grow up on a farm.

I'm sorry about your mother. I wish I could be in a place that my Granannie could get help with cannabis. Her alzheimers is progressing so fast it's scary. I know that something could've been figured out or at least we could've found out new things together to make her life a little better. Maybe someday the stigma will disappear and people will finally learn from this.

The trick I believe is the balance of Stevia or Indigo and all the hybrid in betweens. Each strain has it's own specific tendances. Apply caution before all else. Every individual is unique.

I'm an Allopathic Internal Medicine Physician. I have made Hash Brownies for my Father. He is now in Assisted Living/Memory Care. He HATED the taste of Cannabis smoke, however. I could Never give it for nausea because it nauseates him. And the drops made him Delirious but still nauseous. I believe I did Save him with the Brownies in 2014, when he was having Diverticular Disease symptoms and losing weight. But there is also a Targeted Cancer Drug (NOT Traditional Chemo) which penetrates the Brain and gets rid of the Bad Proteins. And the Life Extension Foundation injects a rheumatoid Monoclonal Antibody into the cerebrospinal fluid of sufferers with Dramatic Results.
