Our New Skunk Shack and Lab!
Hi ya’ll! Please excuse our sites construction mess! We’uns are just learning to drive this puppy!
Our site isn’t the only thing that is a mess either. As our business plan doesn’t involve high cash flow, we elected to not pay to have an unneeded store front. We did however decide to move our operation out of my garage and the pop up canopy in my courtyard.
What we are doing, is building a 12′ X 12′ skunk shack and lab at another location, isolated by itself on a slab. We will have a controlled drying chamber, a closed and ventilated extraction cabinet for running flammable extractions, certified flammable liquid storage, a lab bench, a gas chromatograph. It will also be air-conditioned, and a has a kitchenette with stove top, sink, and fridge.
We currently have it poured, framed, skinned, and roofed. We still need to wire it, insulate and drywall it, and side the outside over the 3/4″ plywood exterior sheeting.
Construction is 2X4 except around the door area, which is 2X6, with a reinforced door, and multi loop alarm system.
We are through framing except for installing the last pre-hung interior door, and wiring is our next step. Since we didn’t cast our conduit in the slab pour, we will rent a concrete core drill to punch through the slab, and lay the electrical service run in a trench, along with the water and waste return lines.
The waste return line will be pumped, as no sewer lines are available that far from the main building. We won’t put it into the sewer under pressure, but will instead pump in into a catch tank, with an open drain to the sewer.
Besides a small lab, we will have a kitchen unit, flammable liquid storage cabinet, a plant drying chamber, a ventilated extraction cabinet, and space for our new used gas chromatograph. That is a bunch in 144 square feet.
